About Us Who We Are

Who We Are

We are followers of Jesus, seeking to live as a community of refuge, welcome, and transformation, so that we might generously share God’s love with our neighbourhoods and beyond.

WELCOMING JOYFULLY

We welcome guests, newcomers, and each other with open loving hospitality, motivated by Jesus' example. We delight in sharing our life together with others, because it reflects the abundant life and love of God.

(Romans 15:7"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."

 FOLLOWING JESUS INTENTIONALLY

Following Jesus is an integral part of who we are, in our individual and our gathered life. We desire a deep inner life with Jesus. We seek to become more like Him.

(John 15:5) "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing".

EMBRACING DIVERSE JOURNEYS

We value our multicultural, multigenerational nature because it reflects God's vision for his Church.

We value and invest in those who are with us, whether for a short or a long time.

(1 Corinthians 12:12-14) "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.  Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many."

GIVING OURSELVES

We use our abilities and resources to serve the church and the wider community. We endeavour to develop our gifts, and to empower and mentor each other to do so.

(1 Peter 4:10) "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."

OFFERING HELP

We are a people sent by God to our neighbourhoods, workplaces and other circles. We want to encourage each other to share the person of Jesus Christ in our daily lives.

(Matthew 5:14-16) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

RESTORING WHOLENESS

We are a safe place of God's love in the city. In the midst of a fragmented, frazzled culture, we endeavour to create a peaceful oasis.

(Matthew 11:28-30) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
