Advent 2025 (The Canticles)

Entering Advent Together
As we step into the Advent season, we enter a time of waiting, longing, and hope. Advent reminds us that God comes close, often in quiet and unexpected ways, and invites us to prepare our hearts once again for the arrival of Christ.
This year, our Advent sermon series will focus on the four canticles in the Gospel of Luke. These songs, Mary’s Magnificat, Zechariah’s Benedictus, the angels’ Gloria, and Simeon’s Nunc Dimittis, have shaped the worship of the church for centuries. They rise from ordinary people who suddenly find themselves caught up in the extraordinary work of God. Each song gives voice to a unique response to Gods saving presence: praise, trust, joy, and deep peace.
My hope is that as we listen to these ancient songs, we will hear our own stories echoed in them. I pray they will help us slow down, breathe deeply, and enter the wonder of this season with open hearts.
You are warmly invited to join us each Sunday as we journey together through these songs of hope. And may this Advent be a time when the light of Christ shines gently but clearly in our homes, our neighbourhood, and our church family.
With grace and anticipation,
Filipe Balieiro
Lead Pastor
